Welcome to Rosie Morgan Portraits.
After completing my MA at Wimbledon School of Art, I moved to West Sussex and began working alongside other artists and craftspeople in the picturesque village of Bosham. My principle interest is portraiture and I specialise in painting children. I have four children of my own.
My portraits are a collaboration between parent, child and artist. As it would be unreasonable to expect a child to sit for any length of time or to be totally natural and at ease with a virtual stranger; I work from photographs preferably chosen by the parent as a characteristic representation. These are quite often snapshots that capture a fleeting moment in the life of the growing child.
The finished work - whilst a product of intense observation - is not cold photographic realism. It is a personal and empathetic response both to the face of the child and the motivation that wished to see this image preserved. My portraits are often commissioned as gifts or to commemorate special occasions. |
